When the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat revealed its beastly performance, the world stood in awe. Just when everyone had a moment to catch their breath, Dodge revealed another jaw-dropper: the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, and, like the Challenger, it packs more ponies than any new Dodge or any Chrysler Group LLC V8 engine has ever produced.
You heard correctly; the Charger SRT Hellcat packs a mean engine under the hood: a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat, outputting 707-horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The Charger SRT Hellcat travels an NHRA-certified quarter mile in just 11 seconds on street tires, and it blasts to a top speed of 204 mph. This muscle doesn't mess around.
For tamer drives, or if you're about to hand your Charger off to a valet, the Charger offers two key fobs: a red one and a black one. The black key fob is what you hand to someone else, as it only allows the vehicle to achieve 500-horsepower. The red key fob, of course, unleashes the full stable.
As if the fastest and most powerful sedan wasn't enough to handle, the Charger SRT Hellcat's style is the epitome of the brand's "Born Dodge" effortlessly-cool look. All body panels have been refined for increased performance, aggressive LED lighting can be found in both the front and rear, it touts a redesigned front fascia and grille, and it sports a custom spoiler and 20-inch wheels. Likewise the interior touts impressive features such as Nappa leather and Alcantara suede seating, an SRT three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen.
With its sinister styling and potent performance, the Charger is not just a sedan for the wild, but it's also a four-door sedan fit for the American muscle aficionado who needs a family-friendly sedan. The rumor mill had been that Dodge would limit it to 1,200 units, however, according to Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis, there's no official word that production will be limited.
While not as powerful as the SRT Hellcat, other versions of the sedan, such as the Charger R/T, also serve as options for drivers in Waco, TX to consider. The R/T in particular, an ode to the Scat Pack from the 60s, fashions a 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 with Fuel Saver Technology to produce 370-horsepower, 395 lb.-ft. of torque, plenty of power to make every ride worth driving!
